Cotton Club Book Club - The Details
Following on from my last blog post I’ve been book club brainstorming with the CC team and we have some details to share. I really want this club to be a positive, fun and engaging space open to all - crafters or not! - with a love of books bonding us all. It’ll grow and develop with time I am sure but for now this is how I see it working...
We’ll roughly read a book a month but this is just a guide and everyone can read at their own pace! A reminder the first read is Martha Beck’s The Way of Integrity and in support of other small, independent businesses I encourage you to order your copy from Bookshop.org, an online bookshop with a mission to financially support local, independent bookshops. Or now we can venture into actual shops, visit your local high street to buy a copy from your local independent bookshop and enjoy making a physical purchase!
Throughout the month I’ll be checking in regularly on social media using the #cottonclarabookclub hash-tag sharing where I have got to in the book and the key messages and learnings resonating with me as I am reading, and excitingly I’m hosting an Insta-Live on Wednesday 19th May at midday to discuss the book in more detail - please add the date to your diaries and join me! I’ll share reminders nearer the time don’t worry...
Towards the end of the month, and with the book nearly complete, I’ll be hosting a Google Hangout where we can get together *virtually* and talk about the book and some of the messages and challenges. More details to follow on this but the provisional date is Thursday 27th May - make a note and look out for updates on the event in the next couple of weeks.
In the future I’d love to connect with the authors of the books we read and do some Insta-Lives and Hangouts with them so they can share more about the journey and answer any questions you have, I’ve got a couple of in mind but let me know what you think our next book should be.
